DFX Geometer (often stylized as dfx Geometer) is a unique, visually-oriented waveform geometry audio plugin created by the experimental developer collective Destroy FX. It is primarily used as an “FSU” (Fuck Stuff Up) effect, designed to drastically manipulate, glitch, and distort incoming audio in real-time by treating the audio waveform as raw geometric shapes. The plugin processes audio using a window-based buffer system through a distinct three-step workflow:
Landmark Generation: It analyzes the incoming audio wave and plots a series of geometric “(X, Y)” coordinate points or landmarks across the waveform.
Geometry Manipulation: Up to three simultaneous mathematical operations can be applied to warp, displace, and scramble these coordinate points.
Waveform Reconstruction: The plugin stitches the audio waveform back together based entirely on the newly corrupted geometric points, synthesizing a drastically altered sound. Sonic Characteristics
